Medicare Benefits in 2025
Open enrollment is October 15 to December 7, 2024
Which plan should I choose?
In 2025, Many Medicare Advantage (MA) plans have $0 premiums, and some plans offer Part-B premium rebates (up to $174 per month) to help offset the projected increase to $185 per month starting January 1, 2025. And if you have both Medicare and Medicaid, there are many competitive plans that offer up to $328 a month in food/utility benefits, or $10,000 in dental coverage, $500 vision, transportations, etc.
In the Philadelphia 5 counties region, the following benefits are offered within different plans:
1. Up to $10,000 in dental insurance benefit (Must have both medicare/medicaid)
Original medicare doesn’t offer dental coverage so if you need dental work, you should consider this plan that offers up to $10,000 in dental coverage that you can also use for implants!
2. Part B premium rebate benefits of up to $174.70/month
Part B premium is expected to increase to $185 per month, starting January 1, 2025. Luckily, there is a plan that offers up to $174.70 in premium B premium rebate to help you offset the increased premium.
3. Up to $328/month food/utility allowance (Must have both medicare/medicaid)
For seniors who have both Medicare and Medicaid insurance, some Advantage plans offer participants as much as a $328 monthly allowance that you can use for food, utility, rent/mortgage, etc.
4. Up to $2,200 hearing aid and eye benefits
In 2025, some plans will offer hearing aids benefits at $1,800 every two years and glasses at $200 per year. For seniors with both Medicare and Medicaid, some plans will also offer hearing aids at $2,200 and glasses at $500 per year.
5. Free Gym Benefits
Most plans offer free gym benefits, which includes access to SilverSneakers or OnePass. You can use it to work out at participating gym facilities or if you prefer to work out at home, you can subscribe to a home gym kit or take free online classes.
Why use a professional Medicare expert to help you choose a plan?
One: In 2025, the cap for Part D (drug coverage) is lowered to $2,000. Many plans make changes to their drug formulary lists. If you are on medication it is very important to check your medication list against the plan formulary to ensure proper coverage.
Two: Medicare Advantage plans usually have specific doctor and hospital networks. If your preferred medical provider is no longer in the network, or other plans have added new medical providers and specialists, you may need to consider changing plans.
Three: Most Medicare Advantage plans now offer additional benefits not covered by original Medicare, including dental, vision, hearing, and even gym memberships, which can be an important factor for seniors who need extensive dental treatment and glasses. In addition, some companies have launched Part B premium rebates, and you will receive benefits ranging from tens to more than a hundred dollars a month to pay for your Part B costs. A professional comparison will help you get the maximum benefits available to you.
Four: For seniors who are eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid, many insurance companies will also have additional benefit cards, which will provide tens to hundreds of dollars of additional benefits each month, which can be used to purchase certain health foods, utilities, transportation, personal care products, and over-the-counter (OTC) products. Please remember that each insurance company offers different amounts in their benefit cards, some offer more, some less, and some none at all. In short, the Medicare plan is complicated, and can be difficult to choose.
